About ASDID
The ASDID clinic is a program of the LSUHSC Human Development Center. The purpose of the interdisciplinary diagnostic clinic is:
- To provide outstanding services to families of children suspected of having autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
- To provide high quality information, training, and supervision to pediatric medical residents, graduate students, professionals, and families about best practices in interdisciplinary teaming and evaluations and family partnerships.
The clinic team works together to engage in best practices for ASD assessment, diagnosis, and support for children and their families.
Interdisciplinary Training Clinic
The ASDID clinic also serves as a training experience for students and professionals in a number of disciplines. Participating disciplines may include audiology, early childhood intervention, medicine/pediatrics, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, public health, special education, and speech-language pathology.
Interdisciplinary Training Goals
- To learn about and understand ASD and associated medical, language, learning, behavioral, and motor disorders.
- To develop skills in behavioral assessment and the interdisciplinary team process.
- To understand the relationship between developmental screening and clinical assessments.
- To work with families and make recommendations for intervention.
- To effectively communicate developmental findings to families and other team members.
