Halloween Supports
Are you ready for some SPOOKTACULAR resources? Follow along this month as we share different Halloween visuals that can be used to prepare the learner for all the fun festivities at school and home!
#1 First Then Schedule
With all of the schedule changes that holidays bring, don’t forget to use your #FirstThen schedule! Usually, the FIRST is a non or less preferred activity followed by the THEN which is a highly preferred activity. Check out the different First/Then boards we have for educators and family members on our website.
#2 Halloween Scripts
We all memorize common phrases to use in different situations, but the goal should always be to pair it with a visual for our learners. Scripting provides support in the form of words and/or pictures for an individual to model appropriate communication and guides interaction with and responding to an appropriate communication partner. Just think about the phases we want our learners to say during the upcoming Halloween festivities!
#3 Halloween Social Narrative
Getting ready for a Halloween field trip or a family adventure on the weekend? Check out our Happy Halloween Social Narrative that covers tips and rules for keeping everyone safe and happy throughout the month of October. This support is for educators and family members!
#4 AAC Trick or Treat Bracelet
As much as we love making visuals, we always get excited when we find unique supports that we can share with other educators! Check out this Halloween core and fringe word bracelet that can be used to help model language when trick or treating with your learner! Thanks to AAC for ALL for coming up with the great idea!
