Constance Alphonse named State of the States Data Ambassador and LEND ECI Champion

Constance Alphonse currently works with the Human Development Center's LASARD Project as a Facilitator. She is also a 2024-2025 Louisiana Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LA LEND) Scholar. LEND is a nine-month (300+ hour) interdisciplinary leadership training program training leaders to prioritize the needs of children with ASD and other developmental disabilities through advocacy, family engagement, and Maternal Child Health principles.

About State of the States Data Ambassador Program

Constance Alphonse was nominated by HDC Director Dr. Phil Wilson to join the AUCD's State of the States Data Ambassador Program in partnership with the State of the States in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Ongoing Longitudinal Data Project of National Significance (PNS). The program establishes regional cohorts across the AUCD network and prepares UCEDD/LEND Trainees to become Data Ambassadors knowledgeable in administrative and national ID/DD data and data accessibility to advance leadership in policy, education, research, and practice. This five-year program will identify eleven trainees from across the nation annually to participate in national training and state-specific networking opportunities.

About the Early Childhood Intervention Personnel Center for Equity

Constance also joins the Early Childhood Intervention Personnel Center for Equity as a LEND Equity Scholar. This nationwide cohort will convene trainees with a focus on early childhood intervention and equity and will result in each trainee producing a related capstone project.

About Constance Alphonse

Constance Alphonse serves as a LASARD facilitator in the New Orleans area. She has more than 16 years experience as an educator, with experience as a special education teacher, instructional facilitator, and administrator. In addition to being certified in special education (1-12) and elementary education (1-5), Constance is also a reading specialist and National Board Certified Teacher. She is passionate about creating equitable, high-quality learning opportunities for ALL students, particularly students with diverse needs. As a LASARD facilitator, her goal is to support and build the capacity of educators to help students reach their maximum potential by developing respectful, diverse, and inclusive environments.
