LADBP Teaches Sign Language and Braille Skills Through Free Courses

This fall LADBP staff offered two courses to teach participants sign language or braille skills to enhance their abilities to communicate with individuals with hearing or visual disabilities. Introduction to American Sign Language and Deaf Culture was held at the LSU Human Development Center and attended by several students enrolled in LSU School of Allied Health professions programs as well as individuals from community agencies. Introduction to Braille was offered in both an in-person or online format and was attended by educators, paraeducators, and family members of individuals with vision loss.  . The in-person class was offered in collaboration with the UNO Training, Resource, and Assistive-Technology Center with classes held on the UNO campus. If you are interested in attending future classes in these topics, send an email of interest to Rose Angelocci at range3@lsuhsc.edu to be notified of upcoming opportunities.
