Dorian Boudreaux
My previous experiences in the field of disabilities include the role of Registered Line Technician for children diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum at a pediatric behavioral health center. In that position, I worked with the children to implement behavioral plans. Currently, I work as a Care Coordinator at the same facility. My role today encompasses assisting families in accessing services and serving as a bridge between families and resources available in the community.
My main goal of the LEND training experience is to become more well-rounded for the community I serve. I look forward to the opportunity to increase my knowledge and sharpen my skills to become a better advocate and care coordinator. My hope is to not just better the lives of the people I meet through work but be able to improve the lives of families in the community.
As a professional, my goal is to develop a resource class that would connect families recently diagnosed with developmental delays to the necessary resources. Most times, a new diagnosis changes the entire structure of a family’s life. In my experience, once a diagnosis is given, parents are left to navigate therapies and services without much guidance. Ideally, the class would be a way to introduce parents to other parents, allow parents to access information regarding available services in one place, and discuss organizations in the community who are available to assist.
