Christina Martin
Hi! My name is Christina Martin and I am 37-year-old native of New Orleans, Louisiana. I am the mother of four amazing children, one son and three daughters. My daughter Vinaya, who is six, was diagnosed with Autism and a rare chromosome syndrome called CTNNB1 in 2018. Since my daughter’s diagnosis, I have strived to become the best advocate and voice for her that I could be. I started my journey into advocacy by playing a role in the passing of La ACT 137 of the 2020 Legislative Session. This law requires law enforcement to participate in training courses to learn proper interaction with individuals with Autism and other Neurodevelopmental Disabilities along with license designations and some other things. That really gave me the knowledge and strength to apply to be the Regional Disability Advocacy Leader for the New Orleans and metro areas and was given the position. Now in 2022 I am a recent graduate of the Partners In Policymaking program moving forward on to my next step of becoming a La LEND scholar. I am excited to learn all that I can to become the best parent, leader, and advocate I can be!
