Sarah Allred

My previous experience working with children with disabilities includes volunteering with a hippotherapy program called Hearts and Hooves in Baton Rouge that encouraged children with disabilities to perform physical, occupational, and speech therapy on horseback. I also worked in outpatient orthopedic and pediatric physical therapy clinics for over a year prior to starting graduate school.

With the Interprofessional Preparation program, I want to learn more about the school system and how therapy is incorporated. The field work specifically, will allow me to have first-hand experiences in a variety of environments that will be beneficial to my future career.

My future goal is to become certified in hippotherapy and start a program in New Orleans. In doing so, I’d like to work with local schools to be able to serve that demographic.
