Maddie Mayes

My previous experiences working in the field of disabilities include providing speech-language therapy, especially to individuals who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication. In addition, I am an active member of The Life Club, a social interaction group for adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I’m looking forward to adding to these experiences and growing with my fellow scholars. I believe LEND will help me to improve in public speaking, develop advocacy and leadership skills, and stand up for the rights of those with disabilities. As a future speech-language pathologist, my aim is to be more than a clinician. In my career, I aspire to be a listener and an ally to those with disabilities, provide equitable services, and be a mentor to those less experienced than myself.
