Kamber LeBlanc

My experience working in the field of disabilities began as a volunteer at a recreational camp for individuals with disabilities in 2012. It quickly became a very important aspect of my life as I would spend all my free weekends there and every week throughout the summer. The whole purpose of camp was “life without limits” as they continuously advocated for equality throughout the community, which was further instilled in me and became my mindset going into school. The fully believe the foundation I learned at camp is what brought me here today and I would not have this opportunity without it.

My goal for the LEND program is to make connections with people from different backgrounds, but similar mindsets and goals as me. I want to be able to put the aspects that camp, my schooling, and everything I learn through LEND into practice.

What do you wish to contribute, in the future, as a professional/self-advocate/family member in the field: I want to be able to contribute my public health and nutrition background to the community of individuals with special healthcare needs, whether that be in a public health setting or as a dietitian. As I will be graduating the Lend program, my Master of Public Health Program, and becoming a Registered Dietitian all at once—I feel it will all fall together at once as well.
