Admission to the Internship Program

Internship Admission, Support, and Outcome Data (PDF)

Interns will be accepted into the program on a non-discriminatory basis, without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, age, national origin, or disability. Interns are selected based on their potential to benefit from the training program and their potential to contribute to the Program and to the field of School Psychology. For more information about applicant requirements, refer to the APPIC Directory Listing for LAS*PIC.

Application Procedures

Louisiana regulations do not allow us to accept applicants who do not have specialty training in school psychology to work in the schools. We can offer internships only to those students who have completed the requisite training in a graduate program in School Psychology. Applicants must be registered with APPIC in order to apply. To complete an application to the LAS*PIC program visit the APPIC Website http://www.appic.org/ and follow the online procedures to complete the application for internship.

Applications are due by November 15, 2017

As an APPIC member, LAS*PIC subscribes to the National Matching Service and all applications must be submitted through the AAPI Online Applicant. Due to changes in the AAPI application portal and the addition of selecting tracks/sites, all applicants are advised to choose to apply to all tracks/sites listed for the LAS*PIC program. All applications received by the deadline of November 15, 2017, will be screened and selected applicants will be invited to interview days in December and January. Applicants selected for an interview will meet with all participating consortium sites for the following year regardless of the number of tracks/sites selected on their application. LAS*PIC requires applicants to submit the APPIC application, 3 letters of reference, CV, Transcripts, Cover Letter, and Essays when applying to the program. No Supplemental Documents are required when applying to LAS*PIC.

Interview Procedures

All applications received by LAS*PIC are screened and a select group of applicants are invited to interview in December or January. Invitations to interview will be sent by November 24. Interested applicants apply to the LAS*PIC program and applicants chosen for interviews interview with representatives from every participating site for the following year. Applicants then rank and are matched with individual sites. Interviews will be conducted on December 4, 11, and 18, 2017; and January 8, 2018.

Because our Consortium Partners have changing needs from one year to the next, our participating sites vary each year. Participating sites are typically set by December 1 for the following year.

Interviewing Sites for 2017-18 will be posted in early November as additional LEAs are confirmed.

Because all interviewed applicants meet with representatives from each sites, applicants who have already submitted their application will not need to resubmit to select the added tracks.
