In 2009, the National Council on Disability published a report entitled, The Current State of Health Care for People with Disabilities. Findings included:
- People with disabilities experience significant health disparities and barriers to health care.
-The absence of professional training on disability competency issues for health care practitioners is one of the most significant barriers.
The Health Care Provider Training Project provides training on disability competency issues to improve access and quality of health care for people with disabilities.
HDC offers continuing education credits for 10 webinars. Credits offered include CME, CNE, and Social Work CEUs. Webinars can also be taken for no credit.Go to Webinars
